Atlas Synthetic Shingle Underlayment

victory home remodeling

Atlas Roofing just introduced its Summit 60 Synthetic underlayment for shingles. The company will donate $2 from each roll of the synthetic underlayment to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research. The special pink-colored rolls will be embossed with pink ribbons and branding and will be available to contractors through Atlas Roofing distributors.

Summit 60 is a great choice for roof systems with slopes between 4:12 and 7:12. You can double the coverage by using an underlayment 24" thick. Fasteners should be used through both layers. The overlapping is necessary because the underlayment needs to be secured by a tarpaulin, which is an unsightly sag. Summit 60 can protect your deck from water damage and will be installed on your deck.

Summit 60 has a great moisture barrier. Its UV protection and water resistance will protect your roof from ice and water. It keeps water from reaching the decking. The underlayment is made of polymeric scrim, which is stronger than traditional felt. It also provides enhanced strength and minimizes slippage between the underlayment and the roof sheathing. Summit 60 provides enhanced walking and protection from the sun for 60 days.

As with any underlayment, you must make sure that it is properly installed before you begin. You must first determine the type of roof deck you have. It must be ventilated before you can install Summit (r-60). You can install Summit 60 on slopes of 4:12 or 7/12. This means that the overlaps should not exceed 24 in between the layers. Avoid leakage and rot by using plastic caps that have a minimum of 1 inch diameter and 1 inch length.

Summit 60 was designed to increase the roof's lifespan and reduce water and UV penetration. It provides superior water resistance and UV protection. It prevents slippage between the roof sheathing and the underlayment. The underlayment will last a lifetime and is extremely durable. It is also very walkable. Moreover, the synthetic underlayment is UV-coated for increased strength and durability.

Summit (r-60) should be applied to solid roof decks prior to applying the synthetic underlayment. It is a double-coverage method. This means that you must ensure that the sheets are properly installed. Instead of having four layers, the overlapping should be 24 inches. The layers can be adhered with adhesives. Summit (r-60) must only be installed by licensed roof contractors.

FAQ

What should I do if I want to hire an architect/builder?

It might be easier to have someone else do the work if you're planning on renovating your own house. If you're looking to purchase a home, an architect or builder can help you achieve your goals.

Is it better to hire either a general or subcontractor?

It is more expensive to hire a general contractor than to subcontract. General contractors often have many employees and charge clients high labor costs. A subcontractor hires only one employee so they charge less per an hour.

How should home renovations take place?

The first thing you need to do when renovating your home is to decide where you want to put everything. You should consider how you want to market your home to potential buyers if you are planning to sell your house soon. The design of your living room, bathroom, and kitchen should be the first thing you think about. Once you have chosen the rooms you want to remodel, you can start looking for contractors who can help you. After you have hired a contractor to work on your project, it is time to get started.

How can I avoid getting ripped off when renovating my house?

The best way to avoid being ripped off is to know what you are paying for. Make sure you read every word of the contract before signing it. Don't sign any contracts that aren't complete. Always ask for copies of signed contracts.

How many times should I change my furnace's filter?

How often your family expects to use the heating system in their home will determine the answer. Consider changing your filter frequently if your family plans to leave the house during cold weather months. However, if you rarely go out of the house, you may be able to wait longer between changes.

The average furnace filter will last approximately three months. This means that you should replace your filters every three months.

You can also consult the manufacturer's recommendations regarding when to change your filters. Some manufacturers recommend replacing your filter after each heating season, while others suggest waiting until there is visible dirt buildup.

Is there anything I can doto save money on my home renovation?

It is possible to save money by doing the work yourself. Consider reducing the number or people that you employ during renovations. Another option is to try to lower the cost of the materials you use in your renovations.

Can I do the whole renovation myself?

If you can do it yourself, why pay someone else when you could save money and time?

It doesn't matter how much you love DIY, there are times when you simply cannot do it yourself. It may be impossible to control the many variables.

A qualified electrician would be required to check the safety and reliability of your electrical system if you live in an older house.

You also need to consider the fact that you might not be able to handle any kind of structural damage that might occur during the renovation process.

You might not have all the necessary tools to do the job correctly. If you want to install a new kitchen faucet, you will need a plumber's serpent, which is a tool that clears clogged pipes.

There are plumbing codes that will require you to hire a licensed plumber for your project.

It is important to understand your capabilities before embarking on such a large task.

Ask your friends and family for help if you're unsure if the job is possible.

They can advise you on the steps you should take and where to look for further information.
